I have a Jap import and bought an independant warranty for it when I acquired it.

This is up for renewal and on the assumption that it mimics the Honda warranty, which it does, I am wondering if its worth the bother.

Last year it cost

I've just booked mine in for Thursday to (finally) get them to look at why fifth gear resolutely refuses to engage.

Other than that, the only other work that I've had to have done was when the CD changer started to skip so badly that it was unplayable. Turns out that the dealer who had installed it in the first place had forgotten to flick the switch which tells the changer whether it has been installed horizontally or vertically

Personally I would be very nervous owning an S2000 without a warranty.

Apart from the wheels (which I would have changed for 18"ers had they not been covered under warranty!), I have had a new clutch (to fix the well known rattle under deceleration issue) and I have also had 2 new diffs.

Now a new diff cost just over

Guys, it might be worth mentioning what year (MY) your car is along with the kinds of claims.
There were know issues with earlier cars.

Mine's an MY02 (2002) and I haven't had any claims yet. No recall work either but that'll probably be done when it goes in for its first service at the end of this month.

It will be expensive as the independant ones inevitably are, but Honda won't oblige.

I have 17" BBS Alloys so that is no issue but as you say Frisky, its the diff, clutch and roof that could be interesting.

Back to the Original Question: How Many?

Far too many shipley!!

Mis-Fires (low fuel & faulty Ignition coil)
Roof Seals (both Sides)
Clutch (eventually!)
Wheels (claim pending third set)

Frisky, what are the tell tail signs of a worn diff? What gave it away with yours?

Cheers
Stiv

Stiv - have you moved? I didn't think your location was Tayside Might just be imagining things tho'

On topic:

I have an '02MY and I've had the following;

* Soft top roof catches (2 off)
* Striker plate for roof catches (passenger side)

... and that's it for 12,300 miles.
