my roof gets replaced on tuesday. Roof is ripping over the drivers shoulder but the plastic is perfect. But then again maybe the plastic has been replaced in the past.

My roof has obviously been looked after by the previous owner. Being my third convertible car in a row, I've learnt to take care of the fabric etc. Touch-wood, there's plenty of life left in it.

£500 just for window or £800 for new roof?
They hack the old one out with a knife, clean away the old stitching and glue then curt a panel from a big sheet of plastic and stitich it in place with a handheld sewing machine.
It’s of course not Honda approved and it’s not an OEM panel and the stitching and finish might not be quite as neat and clean.
But on a 10 year old roof it might not matter that much.
Of course, Birmingham car dealers have been known to tell untruths.

Garage queen, 30K miles, still on the original, in immaculate condition. Roof only stays up when it is in the garage. Biggest dissadvantage is not being able to wack it down on those crisp cold winter days, have to wait to warm it up first.

I’ve been told by a car dealer in Birmingham that you can get the plastic in the window replaced for about £60.

Mine cracked and on reading your post in a thread saying I could get the plastic window replaced for £80 I hung on to find a golden unicorn. However, as I soon found out... NO WHERE does this for s2000's for as cheap as £80.
You find some places that do mgf / mx5 rear plastic screens for £100-£150 - but even those companies ask for close to £250-£300 for the s2000 rear plastic screen replacement.
The key problem is, they insist on removing the s2000 hood to do this procedure... this alone is a lot of labour costs.
As I say, I researched this and found prices ranging from £250-£600 ...
I've now just gaffa tapped the crack up some clear tape, as in the summer I'll be driving with the top down anyway.
Still, I don't think you should be advising people they can get their plastic screens changed for £60 -£80 - when it is not the case, and the only reason you believed this to be true was because a dealer said 'We'll do it for £60-£80'... you may of found either A ) they wanted to make the sale so were happy to cover some of the cost or B ) it'd of turned out more expensive in the long run.
