How many miles...
... from a tank of optimax?
I know my car is new and I am now having lots of fun , but I am really struggling on fuel consumption.
How many miles should I expect from a full tank, when it is mainly used for the daily commute 25 miles, and what about when I am giving it some
Yesterday, I took the *long* route home and only managed 60 miles from the first half tank

I normally only get about 240 with lots of short blast around country roads.

I had / have this concern. It does seem to vary greatly even with steady driving.
I have now come to the decision of Sod it i am having so much fun.
The sussex / brighton meet last week used over half a tank with variable rpms which was approx 140 miles = 34litres of optimax

I get about 30mpg, usually a mixed bag of driving.
I don't even think about fuel until about 200 miles, at 250 miles I start keeping an eye out for a Shell station, at 280 I start hoping to see a Shell, at 300 I start panicing if I don't see a Shell, and more than 300 I start needing new pants. If I haven't seen Optimax by about 270/280 I'll go to BP/Esso and put sUL in.
At a track day, I got around 16/17mpg and that tank lasted about 170/180 miles.

About 270 to the petrol light. This equates to 27 mpg which I am v pleased with considering the abuse it takes.
This was sustained during the SM2 thrash and 230 miles stretch home at an average 93 mph.
I am very pleased with that.
Dave.

I got 330 miles out of a tank last week, and was more than thankful to pull into a Shell garage, those last few miles were nerve racking...
Typically I get about 30 mpg, although tomorrow we're having a x country blast to Duxford, with plenty of and no concern about mpg!
