Default How to make your S undriveable

So my dealer offers to do my geo - and gets it wrong by MILES. They have the clever 4 wheel digi allignment system but it doesn't matter how cool your kit is, if the guys using them are muppets then it's always going to go wrong.

The following is the geo done by Pro Grip in Bonnybridge and is close enough to Chris Franklins recommendations for 04+ cars. The guy was great! I will follow with what Phoenix Stirling set me up with pay attention to the toe in.

Left Front
Camber -1
Caster 5.52
Toe -0.03
Right Front
Camber -1
Caster 5.52
Toe 0

Total Toe -0.03
Steer Ahead -0.01

Left Rear
Camber -2
Toe 0.12

Right Rear
Camber -2
Toe 0.13
Total Toe 0.24

Here's Phoenixs effort, if it had rained this would have killed me over 70mph I reckon

Left Front
Camber -1.09
Caster 5.29
Toe 0.44

Right Front
Camber -1.11
Caster 5.14
Toe 0.40

TOTAL TOE FRONT 1.23

Left Rear
Camber -1.59
Toe 1.06

Right Rear
Camber -2.02
Toe 1.03

TOTAL TOE REAR 2.09

Moral of the story, get the stamp from your dealer and get everything else done by pros . I've learned my lesson!

Looking at those settings there's no way i'll be taking mine to the local dealers. I'm looking to buy some new alloys soon so I think mine will be straight off to C of G .

What was the steering response like? Looking at the previous settings, the new alignment would dampen it quite a bit...

Lucky that's all they did wrong - you are taking a big chance getting a Honda dealer to service your car even

That's about as reasonably accurate as you can get on the camber.

I ran with very little castor; it's great fun with Elise-like turn-in, but a tad scary under braking. Maybe that's why they over-toe'd it.

I had a run-in with a Honda dealer about excess rear toe. I dunno why they always seem to put the combined toe on each individual wheel!

Every time I went over a bump the car actually went sideways . just to give you an idea, 1 degree toe in is about 5mm too far in.

It was bugger all to do with the castor it was the fact that they forgot to put in a decimal point!

Anyways, I did offer to give them feedback but they don't really give a toss. I'll mention it when I'm in to get the next service. just getting the stamp in the book now, everything else will be done by someone who knows what they are doing - now all I need to do is find someone!
