When mine went in for the Geo a couple of weeks ago, I was informed it was a litre under the bottom marker, ie it needed 2litres to fill to the top of the dipstick levels. Oops.

2000 miles through France did that I did check it once during the trip and it was at 7 X's so thought no more of it. Guess the last 1000 miles or so really drank it.

Think the total amount is 5.8litres.

Honda oil lights are not to tell you to top the oil up, they are to tell you that you will almost more than likely have done damage to your engine, get it to the dealer in that case.

But, if the oil light hasn't come on then a bit of TLC and you should be fine.

If it's not been ragged on low oil you should be fine fella. ie if it's going to pot, it probably would have done by now.

Could be an idea to extend the warrantee though

Oil consuption is mainly due to load rather than mileage, IME.

If your car isn't under extended warranty already I'd recommend buying one pretty quick (and if the engine should blow up tomorrow then don't get it towed into a repairer to try to claim for a couple of weeks).
If you are going for a warranty, I'd remove this thread if I were you.

To say it had not enough in is an understatement, it didnt even register on the scale..............worrying to say the least.............and worrying as to how often it has been like this under the last owners time.
Did you check the oil level when viewing the car before buying?

First thing I would have done to an S.

When did you get the car, vs when you checked the oil?
