Had that before, if you spot an unmarked car behind you before he has to start flashing his lights (always watch out for omegas and volvo V70s up here) they can tell that you are alert and have let me off in the past with just a wagging finger. Harder to spot now there doesn't have to be two white shirted blokes in the front though.

Ya know what? Sometimes I just like to RELAX whilst I'm out with the top down and doing a few mph over the limit: I sure am NOT relaxed when I'm constantly scanning for sneaky plods with feckin mobile cameras.....

Like you, I've been driving many years and up until one month ago had only ever had one speeding ticket (1990 in an escort hire car - (flat out to see what she'd do) indicated 110/true 99.9mph -

This happened to me quite a few years back.

I went up the slip road onto the M4 at quite a rate ...... the motorway looked clear and the cars coming from the rear were not going very fast.

So I put my foot down. Next thing I know a police car pulls out of the middle of the cars that are by this time ~400yds behind.

I slow down and the police car pulls along side, gave me a hand gesture, then accelerates off.

36 years - clean licence for me. Hope it's still the same after tomorrow - I have to attend a funeral in Aberystwyth. Oh dear- there's a body blow - jeans and T shirt will be in the boot.

I'd like to agree with zero, but whilst it's true that keeping your wits about you avoids a lot of problems, it has to be said that the cops don't always fight fair when it comes to the signing of these cameras, and you're not going to spot the bobby hiding in a hedgerow with a hand held gun anyway.

The Valentine 1 has been a great investment as far as I'm concerned.

Can't tell what's an unmarked police car nowadays due to the craze of having the windows tinted! Are these people that damn ugly they have to hide behind tinted glass!!!

Section along the A449 where several people have been killed hitting trees in between the two carraigeways. Guess what? No speed cameras or barrierss!!!!!!!!!!

closest i came was overtaking a line of cars a few years back. Unmarked police car was in a line of 6 or so cars, I knew the road and had given the others plenty of time to pass (they probably saw the police gear in the back of the car) so i had a good run up and went past them all in one go at a fair bit over the speed limit

They pulled out behind me and pulled me over. Usual questions about do you own the car, insured etc. "do you know how fast you were going back there sir?"
"only doing an indicated 65 or so officer"
"Think you were doing double that when you overtook us back there"
"Just trying to spend as little time as possible on the wrong side of the road"
" I appreciate that sir and you did slow down after the manouver but i'd like you to remember that there are other road users who might get a fright as you fly past them at those speeds, a little more care in future please sir. Let you get on your way now, a bit slower this time.

When I was nabbed by VASCAR a decade ago, what truly pissed me off was the numpty way Lincolnshire plod carved through the traffic in his sad Rover 800 to catch me up!

It made "Bullitt" look safe.

Good job I slowed down under the bridges, though. I was only done for 88.

You really do post some deliberately contentious generalised trolling rubbish at times, Paul!

Is this the case? I'd be grateful for the source of the info. Unless the law has changed, (which is possible) officers not in uniform can't demand production of your documents, and technically have no power to stop you.
