Hi guys.
Been having some issues with my air con for the past few months.
I only get hot air, like face melting hot. No temperature control at all.
I would just like a checklist of items to do before i take the car to a pro who will charge me money.
I have no clue regarding the ac system so all help is great.
Thanks
Mike

my guess would be the flow valve or the motor that controls it - pretty sure you can see it in the engine bay near the bulkhead - looks like this https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/829...ation-bracket/ (that's a US car so look on the other side of the engine bay

I'd expect it to move when you turn your knob - so get someone to sit inside with the engine running and turn it to cold, wait 10 seconds then turn it to hot. You should see the lever move - if it doesn't then it's likely to be the motor/ switch /electrics. The other way round would be to disconnect the control cable and manually open and close the valve to see if you can change the temp - it's a reasonable work around if you are suffering in your sauna, at least you could find somewhere comfortable until you get it properly fixed.

my old car the cable was sticking, so i would turn the temp in the car, and it wouldnt open and close the valve in the engine bay, i just sprayed some sort of silicone lube up there and worked it back and forward, fixed it for some time.
apparently, the cable can also come out of its holder on the back of the dial in the car, which would be annoying i would imagine..

Cable doesn't move at all when the dial is turned.
I have tried moving by hand and it is fairly resistant.
I will check to see if it is connected to the dial.
Dan, did you just spray the unit itself or is there some dismantling required.

I thought there was a motor actuator that was electronically controlled by the dial rather than a direct physical link to the dial. I expect it's buried in the dash somewhere and a bugger to get to though. I'd start by searching for possible fuses that supply power and hope it's a 50p fuse to fix before dismantling the dash though

I am no stranger to dash removal and install, retro fitted a red dash into my car about 6 months ago.
Very easy to remove actually!
Thanks for the help mate, will keep you posted.
