Default Hose bleeding oil

Hi All

can someone tell me what this hose is,

reason: I changed my hoses for Samco, including this one and have noticed this particular hose has now discoloured and is 'bleeding' what looks like oil, I was a little surprised as I thought it was just a breather hose.

so I figure I have the wrong type of hose on there (just a vac type silicone hose) and maybe I need to replace with a oil resistant one

It is a breather hose Graham, you're correct. It comes from the PCV valve and oil may well flow through it (albeit a tiny bit).

How much oil are we talking here?

not a lot, it's almost like it's sweating through, if that makes any sense

It's because the hose you've got isn't flurolined.

Any Silicone hose discolors/sweats when it comes into contact with oil.

Think silicone hoses sweats all kinds of fluid not just oil.
Thats why I didn't get any for the coolant, rubber is much better suited.

Never had issues myself on the coolant side, I use them on me Crosser aswell and no discoloration.

The Flurolined ones aren't a sure fire way of stopping it either, they just last a lot longer before discoloring.
