Hood hole horror!!
Okay, took the hard top off yesterday for the first time after the winter months (yes, I know it was late!) and to my horror, what was a small crease sort of thing before the winter, has now developed into a small tear/hole. I dont think it will leak any water as it is far too small, but it could spread. So...what are my options, should I a) fill the tiny hole with some glue, b) Stick a small patch to the inside of some sort of material, or c) something else much better that I have not thought of and does not include the cost of a new hood.

If it is in a part that is subject to strain then it is a specialist repair (see above).
If not then an effective repair could be made by gluing a patch inside and reinforcing it with stitching and then proofing the repair. I would do this myself but it depends on the degree of competancy of whoever is doing it!

EEK!! Stitching, I would probably make the whole bigger. It is on a natural crease line on the side, in about the middle, so not really a stress mark, (I dont think).

I used to have a Lotus Elan which developed wear points when the hood was lowered. Managed to sort the problem by getting hold of some 'sail repair tape' from a local chandlery. Very strong stuff that bonded well to the inside of the hood, and most importantly is very thin so won't add to any interference issues that caused the wear in the first place....Just cut a patch that completely covers the area...Easy to get hold of in black too...
