opened my car door next to my neighbours car.........moment of carelessness I guess......put a bloody great ding in it..

well couldn't very well say nothing so owned up and got a dent guy out to sort and I am now my wallet is

Nope, you did the right thing. You made a mistake and took responsibility for your actions. Something sadly lacking in todays society. If you had kept quiet, your neighbour may 'guess' that it was you (i.e. he saw your car parked next to his) and would've created more bad feeling (is he the one you wake up at 5am? )

Depends what your neighbour's car was. If it was a BMW, how would you know if you'd dented it?

I guess so..........don't get me wrong I didn't post this thread looking for back slapping.........just that I kinda wonder if he'd have done the same for me. He's not actually been especially gracious either....kinda makes me feel a bit of a mug
