Thumbs up Hondata Heatshield Gasket

As the title says.

I was just wondering if there is any noticeable difference with the Hondata gasket.

Is it worth changing over to one ?

How easy is it to change ?

Quite a cheap mod, quite a while to install.

Would love to know more info about it tho.

Yes I have got one on mine, It cuts off the water way that runs through the manifold so the air isn't getting heated its a good mod but your better off doing the stat at the same time as honda have to remove the housing to fit the gasket, i learnt the hard way and paid for it twice.

It is a big job to install.

However a Honda dealer should only quote you and charge you 2hrs labour for doing the job (even if it takes them more than a day)

You also need to do a coolant bypass on the TB, but this is an easy job to do.

Silly questin but are you asking about the inlet manifold gasket or exhaust manifold gasket?

Fitting the inlet manifold gasket is meant to be a royal pig, and best to let Honda do it for you. This DIY job should be enough to put you off
linky

If your looking to change the exhaust gasket though, I think that's a lot easier.

I'm guessing it's the later of the two, as a couple have just appeared for sale on eBay

The gasket I've been looking at is for the inlet manifold not the exhaust.

Not sure if its going to be worth all the grief though.

In the link I posted above the guy who did the install notes, also did some testing to show the benefits of reducing heat in the engine. I've got one, and I 'm waiting for my next service before I ask them to install it.

Just let Honda take the strain

Not sure what benefits are too be had from installing the exhaust gasket. When I finally get round to ordering a new exhaust I'll look into it.

I think you have to ask what you are trying to achieve by fitting one, and what else you are doing to the car...

As said, its a total bast of a job.

Be easier to fit an aquamist water injection system if you want to reduce charge temps IMO!

You need to none of the above to stop the hot water going round your manifold, you can just re-route your tubing and bypass the whole thing saving
