HONDA SERVICE OR NOT
Hi guys,
i just wanted to see what your opinions are on servicing.
I am out of the honda warranty and just find it a rip off the prices dealerships charge. So im thinking to take the service schedule to my trusty garage and have them do the service.
The only aspect that botherss me is when it comes to selling the car on, will a semi non honda service history have a result of the car not being worth its full value.
Cheers.
p.s i dont post on here often but i read the site everyday, so a big hello to you all.

I would stick with the Honda service to protect resale - while it won't count as a positive at sale time, it may count as a negative (IYSWIM).
Honda servicing is really quite cheap - provided you supply as many of the service items yourself - especially oil, pre fill your washer fluid, sparkplugs, etc.
Let you backyard mechanic do non service items like tyre changes, brake pad changes, etc.

I don't understand all this about rip off dealers. Compare the prices to a comparable car, Porsche, BMW Z4 or whatever, and the Honda servicing is a bargain.
OK the parts are high vs USA, but for servicing it isn't all that bad. To keep the car on the road each year vs other marques IMO is good value.

Get the normal services at Honda. It's hardly expensive.
Then get extra work done at your prefered mechanic (you don't need to take to honda to do simple or straightforward stuff like brakes, exhausts, suspension fitment etc.).
