Honda Service
Quiet day, so was going through my old service schedules and marrying them up with the bills and what had been done. Yeah I know, sad, but I am just sorting out what I can do myself from what I need to get Honda to do.
According to my service book MY01 86K has a full service history with everything being done roughly in line with the recommended intervals and in accordance with the maintenance schedules except:-
Nowhere could I find any mention of the pollen filter. Not an earth shattering piece of kit I admit, but its supposed to have been changed every 12 months or 18K.
Anyway, 5 minutes of easy fettling under the bonnet and its out, and a more manky filter you couldnt wish for. Dont know when, if ever, it has been done, but the new one was a revelation in white. Yet another example of Honda missing things and the benefit of DIY if you can. I suppose I should be grateful that I dont appear to have been charged for it to have been changed!
I have attached a pic of the old filter.

You don't need a HEPA quality filter to keep the shit out of the AC system. A bog standard filter will do that. Probably a standard Honda part for all cars?

Very easy job, 5 minutes tops.
Filter lives in its housing under the plastic bit in front of the wipers on the passenger side (I am keeping it simple here).
Under the bonnet, gently lever up the corner of the plastic just in front of the small bonnet seal that goes across the width of the car. You just need to release 3 of the T clips to be able to lift the corner of the plastic bit. Under it on the right you will see slightly tucked away a white plastic semi round holder which just lifts out with a bit of fiddling. The filter lives in this and just needs to be eased out of the holder and replaced with a new one. Fitting is just a reversal, but make sure the bonnet seal T clips are attached to the seal.
