The unassisted steering would be a lot lighter & more precise if somebody hadn't put a fcuking great starter motor and a worm drive round the steering rack.
How inconsiderate of them!
Actually, tha PAS pump fell off my first MX-5, 1/2 way round a roundabout. Trying to squish all that fluid through the rack whilst maintaingng course was quite interesting.

Once was on a roundabout the car just died due to a short in the steering column.
The other time was when a belt went and the wheel was that hard to turn that it pulled the rack off the bulkhead slighty and damaged it to. Nice repair bill.
