Are you still able to drive the car without the charger on or are you carless?

I had to change the ECU and Injectors when removing the compressor as its my only car and I rely on it for commuting.

HKS Japan have to inspect it thoroughly, I have been checking with the guys in HKS europe every few days - we should have an answer early next week. I'm quite confident all will be ok and Ryan will be back on the road very quickly

I got some numbers today. Not massively scientific but took temps at the same points with a IR gauge:

After normal road driving - 50 miles @ 40 - 77mph
Inlet pipe on crease - 31.6c
Rocker Cover - 92.6c
Exhaust Manifold (wrapped) - over 180c (outside of scanning range)
Rad top - 28.8c
Intake filter - 32.0c
Engine temp on dash - 3 bars (my Wifi OBD2 didn't work with AEM)

After stints on track - approx 20 mins each

Inlet pipe on crease - 38.0c
Rocker Cover - 101.4c
Exhaust Manifold (wrapped) - over 180c (outside of scanning range)
Rad top - 31.8c
Intake filter - 39.8c
Engine temp on dash - 5 bars

Some conclusions:
  1. Oil cooler absolutely needed. I can drive all day long on the road and never exceed 3 bars (even on the way home in slow traffic and hot temps after the track day). But 15-20 mins of pushing hard on track gets the engine hot very quickly (no revelations here!).
  2. Heat wrap on exhaust manifold is bollocks
  3. Larger rad is holding up well
  4. I need a cold air feed to the mushroom filter intake area
  5. This SC is a lot of fun on track
EDIT: Ryan - if you need an ECU or anything else to get you back on the road, give me a shout if I can help...

Good to see some info. I'm all good, I still had the oem ECU and injectors. Thanks for the offer though.

A standard s2000 will hit those 130c oil temp on track within 15 minutes or so. Im not surprised it gets abit warm with the supercharger bolted up. The stock oil cooler does nothing at high revs as rather than going through the donut exchanging heat to the coolant it just bypass's it. Lift off abit during the session and keep the revs down and it doesnt bypass and the temps drop quickly.

I would be interested to see inlet temperatures on track and whether the intercooler gets saturated. Would be nice to see someone go the charge cooler route. I know it will cost more money but would tidy up alot of pipework and they always seem to get good reviews.

I got to admit that this puts me off going do the HKS supercharger route, I wouldn't be happy spending £4-5k on a set up and then having to wait weeks and weeks to get an answer back from HKS if something went wrong with the charger.
