Not to mention he might be using Corn gas / E85. Yields much more power.

so after tightening my belt some more as i felt the car was down on power, it made a little difference but still felt a little slow, went ahead and removed my old airfilter and fitted a brand new hks one and the difference was dramatic to say the least, i forgot just how fast the car was, the filter was dirty but didn't look too bad imo, but judging by this, the filter is only good for 1500 or so miles just as hks state! The loss in power must of been pretty gradual so was not apparent. Pretty shocking just how much power was lost, must be a good 100bhp

I've just fitted a larger KN filter, doesn't look great but does the job. Really don't like the HKS filter, i attempted to fit a new element and i wasn't happy about how air tight it was around the edges so i ended up binning it. Used KN for years with no issues where as there are lots of stories about the HKS filters and poor filtration

I've bought a couple of the thicker HKS filters, only done around 1k miles since the SC was mapped up and haven't noticed any drop as yet...

does the K&N filter fit ok? I found the HKS mushroom had very little space against the alarm box

I'm going to cut and rotate the pipe to the inside rather than into corner so I can fit a box with a cold feed.

This is a real problem for me as I also hate the mushrooms. I want to fit K&N or a large ITG but I've got a can and the alarm still in that area which restricts things. My bonnet is vented so any moisture runs onto it also.

Just thought i would list a worth while possible power increasing mod for people running this kit.

I have the AEM EMS which does away with the EGR and Airpump control. This means you've basically got spare components and vacuum lines that aren't doing anything and have the potential to leak boost.

I have read a few posts talking about EGR valves struggling to hold boost so it makes sense to block it off and prevent any leaks and possible restore some of the boosted air passing though the EGR.

I have removed most of the pipework so far and i just need to remove the EGR and blank it off with some aluminium and a new gasket.

Would just pulling the pipe work and blocking it off suffice? Do you need to remove the EGR itself?
