I'd be quite keen on one, but I fear I would antagonise my neighbours too much - I assume on start up and at slow speeds on urban roads its still noisier than the standard

Yes its noisier. But it can be `driven` around to minimise noise when you wish.

This has a flipside. It can be `driven` into to ANTAGONISE.

We all know the rev ranges....

Euan, at idle it's not much louder - a bit more rumbly and bassier, but not much different in outright volume terms. If you didn't hoof if off up the road, it probably wouldn't be all that much louder at low speeds either.

As a comparison, at an airfield day my HKS was tested at 96.5 dB at three quarters max revs, compared with 93-94.5 for stock exhausts.

Shipley, there IS a drone between 3 and 3.5K but I never once found that to be a problem in 20,000 miles or so before I flogged mine. Different people have different perceptions and expectations so I'd really recommend you blag a ride with someone who already has one fitted before you decide either way.

Cost when I bought it was

It is quite easy to fit. For what it costs to have fitted you can buy the things from Hellfrauds to help.

ie - Jack and stands and some gasplus spray to free bolts.

Jack the car, drop the stock, fit the new onto 4 hangers - job done.

If anyone is interested I may have a SUPER budget HKS for sale when the Amuse kicks in. It has a rasp at 5k revs down to an internal baffle in the resonator (which I don`t really need to mention but I like to be above board on everything). At max I`ll charge

vid in sig. (HKS + PRM)

I live in a very narrow street and have zero complaints about the noise in the morning. It is a little noiser whilst it is warming up, but it's still fairly quiet at tickover. A bit like the PRM, it gets a lot louder under load and over VTEC
