I'm doing a bit of search atm and came across this.

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=339939

Those guys say HKS with test pipe have a high pitch and raspy noise.

Though they haven't mentioned anything about droning with the HKS+test pipe.

So what's involved in fitting a test pipe and do you have to put the cat back on for every MOT?

A test pipe will fail MOT, so yes, will need to replace it everytime you have an MOT. But apparently, it only takes 30mins max to fit.

Also need either an O2 sensor or anti-fouler plug to avoid the CEL coming on.

That's all I know so far.

The drone is a bit anoying especially when trying to talk to a passenger, staying above 4 seems to be the best option!!! but the sound is great at 5-9K, should be better when I get my AEM CAI. I'll give it a month or two and see if its still bothering me and maybe then get the de-cat.

Sounds good.

Think I'll wait until it's MOT time and then give it a go. I'm no mechanic, but it does sound quite straight forward to do yourself, especially with a little guidance from the helpful people on here!

I have an Invidia, and it had massive drone. Got a testpipe fitted at the weekend and the drone is gone. Don't get me wrong, its still fecking loud - but its a different loud. Far more pleasant

you wanna be wary of test pipes. they are completely illegal and if you go down that route and do get caught you're likely to be in deep do do.

get a high flow cat instead or just let it bed in first?

naughty naughty emissions.
