I read on another post that you (AUS) were developing an air extension protector or something - what's that all about?

N4S, has installing the HKS made much of a difference to your insurance?

I'm on the verge of coughing up for the Hiper system, having seen and heard it on Pete's car and been mightily impressed. I got a quote from my local HKS distributor today (

Erm.... insurance....oh totally forgot about them...I think PWE 896 has HKS and I recall him saying that you wouldn't have to inform them...

The HKS set up I have is a dual Hyper exaust - If that's the price you got -it's pretty good.

The exhaust itself comes in four pieces:

1 - pipe that connects to the catalyser
2 - resonator which connects to above and has two outlets for each exhaust
3 - left exhaust
4 - right exhaust

I wouldn't be scared doing it yourself - I was worried like hell before I attempted it - it was really easy!

I'd check if I were you, N4S - the last thing you want is for the insurance company to avoid cover on a technicality if you find you ever need to make a claim. It may be that it doesn't affect your premium, I'd want the peace of mind of knowing I had asked them and been told that it wouldn't affect it......

I suspect that the

That would be great, if you wouldn't mind If you have a product number I can quote to them, that would be very useful.

I LOVE this forum and the fact that there is a multitude of helpful and knowledgeable people on here

I think the key factor is to try to get across to them that the Hiper has (at least as I understand it) a minimal performance enhancing effect. They're bound to want to know why you're fitting it in that case, so I guess you'll have to explain that it makes a nice noise, rather than fitting it cos it adds 50bhp to the vehicle!

In my experience, insurance company telephone operators don't know much about cars, so the more info you can give them and the more reason for them to be able to tell you that it won't have any effect on your policy, the better! if nothing else, you need to record the fact that its fitted so that you could claim for the cost if you had an incident and had to reclaim for the cost of repairing it or replacing it.

Any chance you could post the outcome of the call? I know there are a few other people interested in getting an HKS system other than me, so I'm sure they'd be interested to know what you're told.

Cheers again.
