does that make a difference?
To be used on a UK road then it needs to conform to UK standards.
It shouldn't get through an SVA with non compliant bulbs so you can't even use that excuse.
That's why JDM only tyres are illegal also.
Then again, so are lots of things like speeding, but you take your chances and if you get caught............

I can't see why anyone does this.
The S2000 lights are perfectly adequate, have you thought about either cleaning the lenses or getting your eyes tested ??
As for oncoming drivers, I'd be flashing you to tell you that you are not driving a rally car, if you need lights that bright then refer to the comments above.

The standard lights were only just enough.
Much better now with the 100w bulbs in.

Decent write up.
However, for an Engineer the gaffer tape on the spade connectors is SHOCKING man!
You are obviously an 'academic engineer' like my wife.
I wont trust her with a screwdriver either.
Im on my second electrical car fire now so wont risk a third here.
Good luck with those ballasts.
Do you carry an extinguisher in the car?

I figured it's only 12v even if the ampage is high, it's just not enough to do anything major within the confines it's in (taped to the rubber seal). It's all fused anyway so if there is a short, the fuse will pop
As I mentioned, the instructions do say to cut out the centre rubber seal and place the solid connector in there. I didn't want to do this so that was my only real alternative.

Going off memory but I thought the idea of xenons was the higher voltage?
Not too worry anyway....I saw an S class go fully up in smoke once because of the xenons seriously no joke that either!

all jdm s2000's with hid dips are illegal, no headlight washers or leveling
These are only requirements for the SVA, the MOT or a road check does not look at these. An MOT or road side check should check conformity on Bulbs, tyres etc.
