hi flow cat
Finally picked up the prototype free flow catalytic converter from Lloyd 6 on Wednesday, its the prototype so its not going to win any beauty contests but in general the quality is good the weight is 3.5 Kg so a good saving there (I will confirm once I get the OEM back) I rented a lift at the local garage and it took me 30 mins to swap once the pipes had cooled down enough to work on them. The fit was perfect no alignment problems
Unclip the plastic connector for the lambda sensor located on the passenger side of the gearbox this is fiddly as you have to press in 2 plastic tabs and pull the plugs apart, unclip the 2 cable retention straps that hold the cable over the top of the gearbox and pull the cable out, using a 22mm spanner remove the lambda sensor make sure the washer comes with it.
3 x M8 bolts hold the CAT to the exhaust these need a 13mm spanner
2 spring tensioned bolts secure the CAT to the header I think these take a 10 mm spanner
Clean all mating faces, I used the existing gaskets but you might like to have new ones as they sometimes stick and damage when removing the old CAT
I never ran the Spoon N1 exhaust with the OEM CAT so I can't comment on the drone I have heard so much about, the car has some drone that was not there with the de cat pipe but its not so bad and you can drive around it as it seems to be revs/speed related in general the exhaust is quieter than with the de cat and for me that
