Police are a CWOT in those circumstances, unless there is money to be taken from you for speeding/parking.

County court or lynchmob fastrack are better bets.

Hope Dentmaster do a fine job; I'd sooner have it hammered out than filled & sprayed.

There are plenty of good backstreet sprayers, too.

There's nothing lost in trying that route (the police) as it could easily be classed as criminal damage. Their clear up rate would look good as they have someone banged to rights so its an easy nick.

Otherwise its the small claims court or a date with the culprits kneecaps.

You cant moan they wont do anything about it if you dont report it. IMO it is important to report stuff like this so it pushes the stats up, on crimes like this, and brings it to everyones attention- then it will be an area to be targeted

The only reason they'd come round is to make sure you aren't trying to do a fraudulent insurance claim!

I'm sure with 3 witnesses you could at least insist they press charges.

If you dont do it you will never know.

present the plod with an open/shut case - good for stats.

Should you eventually go to county court / small claims / insurance company, you will need a crime reference number to support your case.

It costs you nothing and may bring results!

Equally, email the drunken moron a link to this thread and he may get the message that police/fine/jail awaits if he doesn't come forward with the cash.

Leave him a message telling him that you and the three witnesses will have no alternative but to go to the police if he doesn't contact you by a given time.

Police were slow but helpful following a bump in a hotel car park where the other driver "mistakenly" left the wrong tel. no. on my windscreen.

If he has buildings insurance, there's a reasonable chance of success submitting a claim under the liability section of his policy.

Obviously finding out those details could be tricky if he's avoiding you.

IMO this is a civil matter and not a task for plod.

If all else fails you can use the fast track small claims procedure, GIYF.
