As AE has said try and get the engine with the clutch and gearbox, get yourself a S2 workshop manual and fit it yourself (its easy) or get a local HD to do it for you.

I dont really see the point in shelling out for a gearbox when mine is probably OK. I have a spare full clutch and flywheel already.
There appears to be splt advice between compatability of 2004+ engines with regards to matching my gearbox/prop shaft/ecu??
Does anyone have any further comments on recon engines with warranty - isn't this a safer bet than a salvaged one?
Money is the issue here, I hadn't budgeted for a failure - but obviously don't want to cut corners either. If it comes out Ok I may even renew my membership

I think its better to replace the engine & gearbox, as they came off the one car and they will be compatable. at the same time you can change the clutch. It so easy when you look at the Honda Workshop Manual it take you step by step.
I wouldn't trust getting a recon engine, even with warranty.
Send Man an e-mile he's changed his and we did it over a weekend with the help of Chris (CG)
