As AE has said try and get the engine with the clutch and gearbox, get yourself a S2 workshop manual and fit it yourself (its easy) or get a local HD to do it for you.

Dave
How about Chilled and Lurking Lawyer fit it, using nowt but a Halfords Professional toolset and their ingenuity? I'd quite happily contribute towards their liquid lunch to watch that

Been fine

Why do you think the need to change Nick?
I thought someone had to, in order to cure running issues.

As I'm crap at remembering names, I cannot recall who it was, or even if it was because it was a JDM car, thinking about it further!

I dont really see the point in shelling out for a gearbox when mine is probably OK. I have a spare full clutch and flywheel already.

There appears to be splt advice between compatability of 2004+ engines with regards to matching my gearbox/prop shaft/ecu??

Does anyone have any further comments on recon engines with warranty - isn't this a safer bet than a salvaged one?

Money is the issue here, I hadn't budgeted for a failure - but obviously don't want to cut corners either. If it comes out Ok I may even renew my membership

It wasn't simply an SVA issue Nick, was it? I'm thinking Andy Doherty.

Does that mean you'll do it?

Assuming your bro still lives near me you can kill two birds with one stone.

Craig, I'll buy him a barrel if he can perform the surgery!

Luckily for me, Rich has now moved to Bournemouth so I'm not likely to be in the Essex area any time soon and therefore put to the test!

(PS If you were in fact mad enough to let me anywhere near your car with anything more technical than a screwdriver, you'd be completely off your head )

I think its better to replace the engine & gearbox, as they came off the one car and they will be compatable. at the same time you can change the clutch. It so easy when you look at the Honda Workshop Manual it take you step by step.

I wouldn't trust getting a recon engine, even with warranty.

Send Man an e-mile he's changed his and we did it over a weekend with the help of Chris (CG)

I'd change both engine and gearbox, with the clutch while you're at it.

Click on my sig, it'll give you an idea on what's involved.
