To be honest I think I'd use the tyre foam I've got in my tool kit rather than faff with the spare, either way you are limited to about 50mph so why get all dirty and do the "front to rear replace with space saver" ( ) routine??

Is the tyre ruined after using the foam stuff ???

You can't always use the foam stuff though can you, depending on the extent of the damage.... I was just wondering really, after reading the section in the manual that deals with how to fit the damage wheel in the boot... (well looking at the pictures actually since my manual is in Japanese )

I wouldn't want to re-use a repaired tyre on my S2000 though.... (just my personal preference!)

TJ, if I'd managed to shred the tyre I'd be a bit worried about what the rest of the car would look like

Correct! Last March I was on my first "day date" with Jill, coming back from a trip in Wales (around the route I have in mind for the Super-meet actually!) - anyway, doing 100 mph down a long straight in my Abbot SAAB when it suddenly got all out of shape. Managed to bring it to a quickish stop in a reasonably straight line with clouds of smoke wafting past my right ear! Got out and looked at the rear offside tyre to find it in a hell of a state.... hot, sticky, and well shredded. I don't think foam would have been a good substitute for spare on that occasion!

Yeah.... just!

I complained to Pirelli. They said they could find no evidence of a fault and more-or-less told me to go away in short jerky movements - told me I must have been running the tyre severely under-inflated. Yeah, like I'm a stunt driver - driving a 230 bhp car with lowered sports suspension at speed round Welsh twisties with 3 tyres at regular pressure and my o/s rear tyre at SFA.

**cking Pirelli!

- Still their calendars are nice

Just looked up those Pierre Cardin bags in the Argos catalogue. Very nice! Might have to do it!
