Out of curiosity, how many people prime their new oil filters before fitting?

It's something I've always done but don't really remember why I started doing it.

Its hard on the S2000. Most engines I would fill the filter with oil, however this is pointless as the filter mounts on the side.

I do usually put a bit in though, helps 'wet' the filter medium.

I also press the start button and quickly let go after an oil change - the engine wont start and then it takes a while to catch when you press it again. Gives the pump chance to build some pressure up.

AJ,

Nah, I just use a 17mm ring spanner. I do have to use two hands in the vid to get it off.

When putting it back on, I am filiming, lying down and using my left hand to fit it....and the spanner slips off! Few found it comical and yes it hurt my hand

What i'm saying is that it is pretty straight forward and I did it even though I was severly inconvenienced!

Nine,

I always try and keep an eye out for oil. Last time I managed to get it from Tesco!

Neilsen seems to have the best price, especially with a set postage fee of

The genuine filter removal tool is a PITA to get hold of in the UK
I just use one of the strap wrenches to take it off.
