The sensation you describe is what I felt when a tyre fitter fitted one Bridgestone MZ to one side and a BZ to the other of the rear of my car. These tyres were near as damn identical to the naked eye, but as Chris at Center Gravity found, two completely different tyres in terms of compund, side wall thickness and temperature after a drive. So I suspect its likely to be a differecnce in tread or wear that is partly resonsible for the sensation you feel, but would strongly recommend, as others have above that you get the underside checked out. Sadly these arent cars that can easily be run on a budget when the shit hits the fan.

On a side note, the scum that took your wheels deserve to be shot.

Sorry about your bad luck mate, but you can't really be surprised about the result. You've put a part worn set of the wrong sized tyres on a second hand set of alloys on a rear wheel drive car with 240hp that is notoriously picky about tyres in the first place, and now it doesn't handle very well?

It is certain the depth & pattern of wear will be different on those used tyres.
Assuming they are the same make
It doesn't sound like they did a great job of balancing them either
IMHO its false economy putting cheap tyres on the S, both for your safety & enjoyment.
Get some decent tyres, properly balanced then get the geo done.
Then you have a proper baseline to diagnose the fault from (if it is still there )
