Does the phone connect to USB on the computer ok ... and have you got someone else with an iPhone who can test the cable in your car for you to check if it's the HU that's at fault?

That lead isn't a USB lead though is it? Scroll through with the main button till you get iPod displayed on HU.

That lead is iPod one end and that sort of round alpine connector on the other.

On the same theme & without wanting to hi-jack your thread Alex, I have the same head unit & but have a SGS II with a short lead, USB to mini USB which I have been meaning to try as my phone is 32gb vs my 8gb ipod - has any one tried this & does it work or do I have to buy some other kind of cable?

Should display as ipod2 on the HU.

iPod is for the USB cable you don't have.

To use the USB from the HU, you need this cable

Ignore the picture though. It's the iPod connector one end and the Alpine USB on the other. It is only 6 inches long though...

Gary - thanks for the info

Will stick with my ipod as only recently replaced the short part of the cable at a cost of around £21 direct from Alpine.

Doesn't make any sense to buy another cable just so that I have more choice of music from my phone - I wil put the money towards my rear spoiler instead

Gary, with you saying about iPod that fixed it for me. I needed to have the Aux + switched off on the headunit which then brings up the iPod part.

All sorted mate. THANKS
