Default Help me diagnose a possible problem

Hi guys, i uploaded this video to see if anyone could confirm it is the pre-chain tensioner that needs replaced or something else?

the car had been running 15 mins previously to this video being taken. The car runs as smooth and as powerful as before just noticed a ticking noise?

BTW: the video quality isnt that good, and it sounds worse than it is damn camera phones!

cheers

It does sound more like an injector problem rather than a problem with the cam chain tensioner. Usually, a malfunction in the tensioner produces a short duration (3-4 secs) card in spoke type sound during warm start ups.

This ticking is it more conspicuous at 3-5K RPM?

Doesn't sound like mine did. Mine was more of a metalic rattle than a ticking noise.

Good luck...

If thje injector was stuck it wouldnt run as smooth as you described.

It sounds like valve train noise to me, but really could be anything tbh.
Try stuffing the end of a large screwdriver in your ear and put the blade
against some likely candidates, (like a stethoscope).
You may get lucky and pin it down if its external.

Mileage on this engine mate??
Have you over revved her on a downshift?
Have the valve clearances been adjusted correctly if it's a high miler?

sounds like tappits to me? worth checking whatever as you can't hear a tight tappit

if its injector the sound will stop on overrun then restart near idle
ie from 4500 down to 1200 ish

mines got a slight tapping noise with 60,000 miles on the clock and ill bet they wern't checked at the last service!

ive also got a noise on start up from i suspect the tensioner , but goes away very quickly

Hard to say but sounds more mechanical than an injector, and more top end as previously stated.

For the price of tensioner parts from HTGuy I'd replace it yourself and see how you get on!
