Default Help - Installing stereo.. sure this isn't normal

Following this boards advice I decided to install my Alpine 9850r1 head unit. I currently have a pretty poor Sony head unit in there. I'm awaiting the alpine specific cable to work with the head unit but thought I can live without the dash controls and will retrogfit when it arrives

It all came apart easy enough and I removed the Sony unit. However it's not just a plug and play type install

Behind the Sony unit I found this;

I'm CERTAINLY no expert when it comes to electrickery but this looks to me like someone botched the wiring to make the sony head unit work. If I get the Alpine cable will it work with this loom or do I really need to get a pro to do it.

I hate being beaten by stuff like this.

Oh! dear.

What does the grey socket at the back look like when disconnected?

What StevenM says!

But you need to get it back to the light blue connector!

DCI goes into that then the Alpine connector goes into the DCI.
Normally straight forward.

disconnect the grey plug and buy a Honda - ISO convertor that will fit any aftermarket stereo

if u ordered one of the cables with the dash controls that plugs straight in to the grey block

the prev owner must have moddifed the loom to get the sony stereo to work just disconnect it and u will be alright
