Help identifying "negative coil" for shift light
Hi all! Allow me to explain before you say "whats the point..." Im 6ft 3" and i find it very difficult to view the tacho as the steering wheel is in my direct line of sight
Anyway, the unit im trying to install is made by OMEX it can control the rpm limit (not useful to me) but it has a shift light (and/or buzzer) output - just what i want.
The problem is, the manual says to connect the blue wire (of the OMEX unit) to the cars "COIL NEGATIVE (-) terminal" What/where do i find this?
There are only three conections in total (1) red to switched positive - easy to find (2) black to earth - again easy to find (3) blue to coil negative??
I have already tried wiring the units number three, blue wire, to the stray blue wire in the engine bay by the brake master and also to the rpm pulse blue wire at the ecu in the passenger footwell, both found by searching this site, but neither give the unit what it wants.... Does anybody have any oter ideas please?

you may have a problem with this as each cylinder has its own coil so there is no negative coil wire, you cant use just one as you will only get 1 4th of the info the device needs. This is not an unusual design of ignition so Omex probably have a solution try talking to them about this

thanks for that guys, i will try calling Omex. loftust i will also try that. Just an extract from the manual.
Will work on all 4 stroke petrol engines and most ignition types, but not capacitor discharge (CDi) systems. - afaik we have coil over plug ignition system.
