Default Help, car won't start

My old car battery finally died on me yesterday so went and got a replacement, fitted and car started straight away no problem. Took it for a quick drive and parked it up.

I've had a knock sensor code the last few days so got the car jacked up to see if it had broken, which it is. Unplugged the remains of the sensor but couldn't replace it yet as I need to get hold of a deep 24mm socket. Went to start the car to put it back away and nothing. It locks and unlocks fine from the fob, press the starter and I can hear it click and the fuel pump seems to start making a noise but the car doesn't crank at all. I've tried a few of the things mentioned on other posts but nothing working so far.

Things I've noticed which may or may not be relevant

Green key symbol comes on when I turn the key and then goes back out
Abs light comes on when I press the start button.

Previously if the immobiliser had armed its self I could press the button on the fob with the ignition on and the green key would light up and allow me to start the car. When I try this now nothing happens.

Could I have knocked something around the starter motor when feeling for the knock sensor and if so what?

Would the knock sensor not been plugged in to even the broken part make any difference? I'm pretty certain it wouldn't but trying to think of all options.

Any help much appreciated

The red led also appears to be functioning correctly

Yes. Doesn't seem to be an issue with power. I can put the roof up and down ect.

So your broken knock sensor was connected, but now it's not at all?

On the basis that the last thing you changed is probably the reason, I would put it back.

Just done that. I've spotted a slide on spade type connector that is loose, quite possibly could be something off the starter but can't for the life of me see up there as to what it's come off of.

as you lifted the front of the car, possibly the fuel cut off valve?

inside the panel near the drivers right knee, you can feel it over the panel but earier to remove it and use a torch to see.

How many times have you put the roof up n down without it running? Battery might be flat now
