Well, it seems the fault finding was correct, thanks to all those that helped.


I've got my repaired EMS back from AEM and plugged it in, all is well! Even with the new sensors plugged in, the throttle voltage range is back to normal, the coolant and air temp are reading correctly, the MAP sensor reads zero at ambient and most importantly, it runs smoothly! Bit of bad luck, getting a 2nd EMS that was dodgy, that's all.

Dodgy AEMs seem to be not uncommon!

Glad you found it. Electrical issues are the worst.

How long did it take them to turn the ecu around? I have one which needs repairing where I managed to short the sensor ground wiring with 5v. Really wasnt clever!

Indeed, so I've found! Seems it's a slightly delicate circuit, the sensor circuit. You'd think they'd have protected it from over-voltage.

Thankfully, they warrantied it, despite knowing I'd caused the issue, which was good of them. Although they did say that they wouldn't do it again! Fair enough! It can't have been out of the house much more than a fortnight. They repaired it and sent it within a week of receiving it, I think. The chap I was emailing helped me do some diagnosis too, very helpful, quite a few emails back and forth.

Had the same with my Aem Series 2, coolant temp erratic as well as tps sensor. Brand new out the box and had to send it back for a warranty repair. I had it longer than a month so couldn't so couldn't get it exchanged. Turned out it was ' Burnt pin 32 filter on main-board' All seems to be good now, just need to get it booked in for mapping again :-/

Got a refund on the 2nd hand EMS (thanks K_iju) as all the testing pointed to a fault. Hopefully he gets it repaired without too much cost. Seemed a genuine guy. Just need to sort a few more bits and bobs on my car, then book a mapping session. Can't wait!
