I went down to my garage 30 mins ago and when I pressed the keyfob nothing happened.

Changed the battery, tried spare keyfob - nothing happened.

Unlocked the door with the key, out the key in ignition and turned 0 dash lkights came on and then alarm started

Alarm wouldn't go off using the keyfob(s).

I popped the hood thinking I could stop it by disconnecting the battery, but the alarm went off after about 1-2 mins.


Noticed that the red LED by the gearstick wasn't flashing.

Tested across the battery terminals with a voltage tester - getting 11.9 volts, so must be OK


So that is where I'm at at the moment - I don;t wan to try turning the ignition on again and starting the car in case the alarm starts again (garage is directly below my neighbour's bedroom - and he's a big bloke!)

Any ideas anyone? Something simple I've not thought of?

11.9 volts seems low for a car battery, Scorpio is 14 or so , may just be a different battery.

I would disconnect and reconnect the battery reset the pats system.

then unlock and relock it and unlock again with the remote.

want me to come round?

I'll wait another 30 mins (to reduce pi$$ing my neighbours off in case they are having a long lie) and then try disconnecting the battery Andy and let you know - I have a battery starter pack, so if it is flat can restart.

Spoke to dealer this morning, but they can only suggest flat battery in the car, which does not appear to be the case.

the voltage does seem low Euan I would expect to see around 14 .

and a failing battery would cause the alrm to do all sorts of things, remember I had mine replaced (actually I can't think of anything on the car I haven't had replaced)

You want the AA guy to do a leak test too in case your elctrics took a shunt during the sheep incident

Disconnecting the battery seemed to do the trick - but only after the alarm ran continously for no reason for about 5 mins.

Not wishing to annoy my neighbours I closed my garage door while I was inside - I am now deaf from the noise

T o make matters worse, when the alarm stopped, and reset properly, and the car started... I went to open the garage door and couldn't - it had locked itself.

There was me, locked in my own garage


After about 10 minutes I realised there was a snib thing on the inside and was able to let myself out.

So car started, drive into town, parked up near the office, walked to a shop about 100 yards away - noticed an alarm sounding

Alarm going again.

Reset - waited for 4-5 minutes, alarm went off again

Reset - disabled ultrasonics, waited 4-5 minutes - alarm quiet, so I have now left the car and am at work.

Dealer first thing monday.

FFS the unreliability of this car knows no bounds
