Ross.

I'm 6'6" and fit in it ok...not bad for long journeys either

I am only 13st 6 lbs though
Wow I thought I was at the limit! Have you modified the seat at all?

I just spoke to Adrian Flux and an S2000 would be 'over £3000 a year' so they can jog on. Admiral said £2067 so I'll probably go with them even though they're £40 more expensive this time.

I honestly cant believe someone would pay £2k for insurance regardless of how much they like the car...

Think about what you can do for 2k lol!

If I was you I'd save some money on insurance and get something quicker (mx5 with a bolt on turbo would be less expensive).

The day I pay over £1k-£1.5k is the day I'll get shot of the car...

I could turbo my MR2 for about £3k and get it to 240bhp, but I've always liked S2000s and being a massive petrol head I want to try new cars . I once sat in the driver's seat of an MX-5 Mk.1 and almost shattered my knee when I shut the door! Nice idea though.

I went to drive this one at the weekend: http://www.evanshalshaw.com/vehicles...r-s800hon.html

Despite the shit advert, it has FSH and was in good condition.

Does anyone know the history of this car?

I drove it at first with the roof up, and there seemed to be quite a lot of noise coming from the edge of the windscreen by the drivers head where the roof means the windscreen surround. Even at 30 it seemed unreasonably loud. The clips were secure so I suppose it could have been a faulty seal. By the time I got back I forgot to check it though :/.

Sounds like a dodgy seal, at 30 it doesn't sound any louder than a tin roof tbh. Doesn't really get noticeable until you get to motorway speeds.

I'm 6"2 and got a "Backyard Special lowered seat rail" drops the drivers seat by a couple of inches and makes you feel like you are sitting in the car more. Was about £300 but would recommend for taller people

Are seals replaceable or is it a case of a new roof? I know on the MR2 you can tighten the clips which can help.

I was actually surprised with the amount of room I had. Suppose I've become used to cramped conditions haha.

I would like to sit lower though, so that mod is a definite possibility.

I have seen methods for tightening the clips, have a search around

WRT insurance btw, give Sky Insurance a call, I'm 26 and pay ~£600 with those boys

Ross - I haven't checked the website but I see no reason it may have changed. If you do a full day with RideDrive, and get an assessment report, you can get 25% off a renewal with AF.

It may be worth checking whether that applies to new quotes.

At about £250 for the day, 25% off a 3k quote more than covers it, and would take it to below the admiral quote.

For what it's worth, I pay £450 fully comp, aged 28 with a ban last year for SP30.

Okay that's positive. I'm not actually looking to buy until 13th of July as that's when I'll have 3 years ncb (assuming I don't crash between now and then )

I'll give them a call. They wouldn't quote me on my car as it's modified and they don't cover modified cars in my area. It's hardly a joyriding hotspot ffs.

On a multicar policy with my parents, I've now got it down to £1366 with Admiral which I'm more than happy with so far .

The price on a single policy was £2067!
