the brake calipers must be very small to fit inside wheels that small. My standard car has 17" wheels and calipers and there's not much room. I thought race cars fit bigger brakes!

What? Since when is an 18 inch wheel small for an S2K?

Or do you also see something four inches long and tell people it's actually six?

Wheel size isn't the factor in a BBK, it's the caliper / spoke clearance.

And race cars don't always need bigger calipers

10.5" wide. Scooters might use 10.5" diameter wheels, real cars don't.

He said that tyres are 285/30/18... That should have given you a hint about the wheel diameter.

Thanks for clarifying it wasn't immediately obvious to me, the way that the sentence was constructed. Usually when people mention their wheel size they are quoting diameters. I've not come across someone quoting the width of their wheels before. That's why I questioned it.

Lots going on with the car this week, which is the last week we have until it goes back to the paintshop/fabricator for 2 weeks worth of front splitter, window fitment, front arch extentions, rear spoiler and quick release boot fitting gets done.

A plenty more pictures to come but here's a bad one to start with, looking where to mount the rear spoiler brackets yesterday. They will be mounted on the chassis legs to a bracket, come up through slits in the bootlid, which in turn will slide on and off with ease with quick release spring clips.

10.5" rears fit a treat.......9.5" fronts dont! Wings being modified next week. An inch coming off all round the wheel then an extension/flare being made to allow some clearance.
