I'm surprised at the use of a carbon bonnet at all. I'd be interested as to why a second hand aluminium OEM bonnet was not sourced from a breaker and then vented etc.
Given it can be fixed with a hammer in the event of accident damage, I'd have thought it was a much better bet for a racing car. Seeing as a standard item weighs a whole 2.65kg more than even the most expensive Mugen bonnet, I expect with a vented OEM the difference would be even less.
Cue the Moderator fight!
PS I have been watching the racing exploits of MarkB/Ralston and ge2, so my assumption of guaranteed bodywork damage may be overstated

Just because someone is a [voluntary unpaid] moderator, it does not mean they can't vent their own personal opinions on any subject on the forum. A moderator's opinion holds no more credence than any other person's on subjects such as this. People are welcome to agree or disagree with that opinion.
FWIW I disagree with Chris's opinion on this particular subject, and think it is up to HEL what the HEL he wants to do with his racecar.
It would be different if someone accused a Trader wrongly of selling "knock off" parts, and this is not what has happened here.

In a blatant attempt to move on from 'bonnetgate' here is a random picture taken from today. Done purely to see what bolts we did or didnt have with the shell (Integrastella gave us a box load with the shell), not to achieve anything more than that really. All bolts on nicely and once the arms are all painted the same colour under there with the white painted shell it should look pretty trick under there. The larger lower arm will be re-made in lightweight T45 tubular bar at a later date, but for now some of the original arms will remain until the car is built up properly...
Full shell strip down (not that there is much to strip off) and wheel into the spray booth in the next week or two now....
