MikeC'S2k - Bleeding the clutch is easy .. 5 min job, but ideally needs a few people to save time. It involved keeping the masercylinder topped with fluid, and syncronised opening/closing the bleed nipple on the slave cylinder and pushing the brake pedal up/down.

TINTOP - Lies, it can be done in place. Would take about 15 mins, I'd offer, but I don't have the bits to do it.

If you can get ahold of the right grease and a gun

It's a doddle to DIY.

When I found this problem with mine I used a wire coat hanger, which I bent as required. Access to the release fork pivot point is not easy, but it can be done.
After you have taken the slave cylinder off and the rubber boot you can pull the fork out slightly to disengage it from the pivot point. It won't come fully out and is easy to push back in place.
You just have to do the best you can in getting the grease in the correct place and make sure you use the correct high temp grease.

To be honest your Honda dealer is correct, the gearbox ideally needs to be dropped. The reason is the shaft that the release bearing runs on can get corroded and in this situation would need replacing. Trying to put grease on it, using the above method is almost impossible. Also, the bearing may be lacking in grease as well, and also the point where the fork connects to the bearing.

For me, I will keep greasing it through the release fork hole, until I need a new clutch and replace the bearing shaft, with pleanty of grease applied.

Well look, mine needs doing and I have a pit in a garage and can probably lay my hands on a grease gun too.

Given I'm not far away from any of you (I'm near Amersham, Bucks, you guys are all within an hours drive tops), shall we all get together one Saturday or Sunday (Sunday this weekend suits me) and have a go? Once we've done one car, we should also be able to do the other pretty swiftly afterwards.

Any of you 4 fancy it?

The pits is a good idea;

From the look of it, it's a bit awkward on axle stands/ramps etc.
