Top marks for this, I waiting for my heated seat lements to arrive from the states so think I may wire in these whilst the seats are out.

Shopman,
Where did you mount the amp in the end? I assume you got a small 2 channel one?

Did you feed the rear speakers from the same leads for the fronts or from the rear output on the rear of the head unit.?
I just wonder since it's a real pain to remove the head unit to get into the back of it.

They are connected to the rear outputs of the head unit.

Without this you won't be able to control them separately to the fronts and they need to be run at about an 80% lower output.

I didn't in fact remove the head unit to connect them.

I removed the adaptor lead to the head unit by removing the side panel in the footwell.
Once out, I soldered in two leads to the rear outputs with two pin plugs on the ends.

I used some plugs from Maplin which were ideal for here and at the other end for the wires where they emerge from the seats.

At the same time I cut the wires to the front speakers and rejoined with the same type of plugs then, when at a later stage I added an amp all I needed to do was unplug these and connect the amp in direct to the front speakers.

If you can use the Clarions, they are very good little speakers. Cost about

I phoned Clarion UK who recommended this place.

Clarionworld

They didn't have them in stock but ordered them specially for me.

Yes, they are held in with cable ties

I just fitted speakers in there today, only full range (a set I had lying around) though, but found a big difference, set the balance to 66% front, this seems to be ok, since all units have different ranges front to rear, mine is 0-15. I feed the leads to the dash and coupled them into the adaptor plug on the unit since I wasna sure of the connection mentioned in the side panel, used a good lead and it fed down the back of the seat easy enough.
Tomorrow its off to find some cloth to use behind the speaker in the silver cover on the back of the seat.
