Ah, that explains your driving .
As one owner who used to burn a lot of oil (probably 2+ litres in the first 10,000 miles, I check after these sort of events, track-days etc, as big VTEC-ing can make a difference! I had a MOBIL1 oil & honda filter change before I left Newcastle, happy to report no need to refill when I got back 650 miles later.
For non-burners from new , the consensus on the US site was to feel very sorry for you as you won't be making as much power as a nicely loosened up engine, HaHa

Quite interesting this,
Saturday morning before I left checked oil, 3/4 full.
VTEC burn up with the southern convoy, and while in the Council car park, Leggy was checking her oil, she had lost quite a bit.
Thought better check mine, I had gone down to 1/4 full
Quick purchase of Mobil 1 returned the oil to the correct level though.
Did notice a few others were checking and filling there oil though

OK so as a new member of the vtec entourage (the car's run-in now - hurrah!), what oil should I be topping-up with if the level goes down?
More to the point, will somewhere like Halfords stock it or will I have to get it from a specialist?
Alex.

Alex, this is a very common question!
As far as I know the consensus of opinion is that it really is best to follow the manufacturers advice and only top up the car with mineral oil until the first oil change. This is to help the F20C's special cylinder linings marry up to the pistons.
10W 30 mineral oil is the recommended spec but aside from Ford parts departments this is pretty hard to come by. I used Halfords 10W 40 "enhanced" mineral oil in mine until swapping to Mobil 1 oil at 7600 miles.
Hope This Helps!

Thanks Tif - I'll check mine at the weekend when it gets its first wash
Just out of curiosity, does anyone know what the numbers for the oil actually mean? Or should I keep going around saying "oh yeah, I only ever use 10W40 - anything else is just pants"
Alex.

I hadn't burned any oil up to 1400 miles (when I met steve_the_greek and Dan on Saturday morning) but I started using oil over the weekend, so far I've put about 2 litres in and done another 500 or so miles.
Obvoiusly Wales loosened something up....can't think why?!?!?
