Default Has anyone tried this shift light over there?

Has anyone over there used this? It's a flexible shift light that I'm hoping will fit in the slot between the windshield and the dash.

flexible shift light

Appreciate your opinion

thanks

I don't see the point of it.

On a race car with no rev counter, maybe, but that's it.

cheers

You already have a great big one of these in front of you - it's called a rev counter .

read the manual on gear changes and then skip to dash board controls all will become clear why you wont be needing a....................

Multi-Programmable LED Engine Speed Indicator System(RevLight)

but hey if it makes you drive better knock yourself out.

No, I can't see the point either.

TBH, once I have got used to a car I find you know when you have reached peak power from the sound of the engine, length of time you have had your foot nailed to the floor, feel of the car etc and use that as a guide when to change up.

For road driving, one less thing to glance down at on the dashboard makes things safer IMHO.

We already have one fitted as stock on UK S's my colonial cousin, when the tachometer hit's 9,000 rpm it flashes and you change up

edited to say tachometer instead of tachograph, damn those HGV's

Well apparently I drive a bit differently than you do over there. My car has lots of power and performance modifications. I race it regularly. I'd be willing to bet money there's not an S2000 in all of England that could catch it.

I find the tachometer while it's great for getting close to my max hp shift point still requires taking your eyes off the track.

What I'm doing is setting up a heads up display with timed pre shift warning lights to allow me to hit my shifts even more accurately. By using a clear reflective spray on the windshield just above the I hope to achieve a "heads up" display effect.

Anyway thank you for the help. It's appreciated.

wow, sounds complicated.

why not wire your testicles to the shift light unit, once you've had enough shocks, you'll know instinctively where the optimum shift point is.

all without taking your eyes off the track.

One more comment . If your shifting at 9g or when your rev limiter kicks, you're shifting too late. Your max hp point on a 00-03 s2k is 8350 on a stock ecu. If you're shifting later than that. Your hp has flattened and it's costing you time.

That's easily verified on any dyno chart.

have a good day
