I much prefer my Royal Mail postman to deliver stuff rather then any other service, if I am expecting something I leave me porch door open and he comes in and leaves it in my porch for me. If it needs signing for he either signs it "postie" or asks a neigbour to sign it and then still leaves it in my porch.
I had City Link one day leave a parcel on top of my bin infront of my house on bin day !
No note throught the door or anything, luckly the bin man realised it wasnt rubbish and left it there... unless he did it after the bin had been emptied ?!?

To be fair, you can't expect somebody outside the country to know all about our tax system. I would have always asked for a price and assumed that I'd have to pay VAT on top.
But if he did promise to pay ALL the taxes (what specifically did you ask?) then he ought to refund you. Good luck with that.
AFAIK the previous situation was never resolved.

A few of us learnt a lesson from this, some already knew how the import tax system worked.

If you mean by previous situation my dealings on the group buy, for the record it was all sorted in the end, my company picked up the duties bill.

You were!
Roal Mail is also part of the Royal Mail Group I don't think I used the 'Group' word above

Post Office Limited is a company registered in England and Wales, number 2154540, registered office 80-86 Old Street, London EC1V 9NN
Parcelforce Worldwide is a trading name of Royal Mail Group Ltd. Parcelforce Worldwide's principal office is Solaris Court Davy Avenue, Knowhill, Milton Keynes MK5 8PP "
Royal Mail's own website is a little misleading, but it is appears that the Royal Mail and ParcelForce are the same company, Royal Mail Group Ltd. However, they are separate trading divisions
I thought I was wrong about my own original assertion Steven, not yours

This discussion about the RM corporate structure is fascinating.
Thanks.
