Royal Mail is *not* ParcelFarce.

I will not buy anything from anyone that uses ParcelFarce. I hate them more than any other courier.

Their fees are an outrage.

Avoid like the plague anyone who uses them.

Yeah but HTG can't really know which UK carrier his US carrier has an arrangement with. USPS has contracts with both Royal Mail and Parcel Force. also Royal Mail have an arrangement with Parcel Force for stuff that's too big for them.

My mistake - I thought Parcel Farce were simply the parcels division of Royal Mail?

We have a long history as part of the Royal Mail Group and pride ourselves on the dedication of our people to deliver high quality services for over 30,000 customers across the country."

"Parcelforce Worldwide is a trading name of Royal Mail Group Ltd."

Phew! I thought I was wrong for a change! However, in your experience does Royal Mail handle parcels in a different manner Steven? I had not appreciated the distinction.

different comapnies under the same group. think of parcel force like UPS or DHL rather than like the postie and you won't go far wrong.

All in all I think I paid around 1K in clearance charges and VAT when building the Chevy. Bax Globals rates are no cheaper than parcel force TBH and UPS are even more expensive.

Back on topic, aldfort said it best. HTG cannot pay those items for you. He cannot know about them. And he can only answer you to the best of his knowledge. The best he could do would be to ship the parts as classic car parts. or some would suggest as a gift with no value. although that would of course be defrauding the dear old HMRC and I would in no way advocate that! (are you listening Ma'am?)

If you really want to avoid the VAT/duty fees, simply get the items from Japan instead. HMC&E don't seem to care as much when something comes in from Japan compared to the US.
