Hardtop Wiring question
#11
I'm having simular problems, I too have the 4 way connector that I have removed and just connected the wires by colour matching. It still does not function, and the loom that runs to the new switch prevents the light on the switch from working (it does when connected directly into the original green connector). If I remove that additional part of the harness, will connecting the single black wire that it was plugged into to ground sort things out?

OK that worked!
So to recap:
On my MY00 I have used Hardtopguy's harness, junked the additional harness he supplied that goes to the centre console, cut off the 4-way connector, colour matched the wires and connected them to those going to the 3-way connector on the origninal loom behind the seat. The remaining single connector on hardtopguy's harness adjacent to the 4-way connector I have run to earth.
The remaining cyan wire I will run to the softtop control box to give security.
Fab!

Oh FFS...the wires in the car loom are a different colour to those on the loom supplied with the hardtop...time to get a multimeter out!
No sign of the fourth wire everyone else has run to Gnd however
Any other useful info would be much appreciated

Show's I've searched for the answer
No point starting a new thread when there is one already here
I would like to know if anyone else has been in this situation, so I can benefit from their experience Failing that, I'll plough through the problem
