Default hardtop problems

I popped the hard top on over the weekend and went for a cruise. When I get to motorway cruising speed (assuming non rush hour cruising) the wind noise coming from the front edge of the hard top (where it touches the top frame of the windscreen) is awful.

In comparison to the soft top it does not seem to sit as tightly or closely to the frame hence the noise I guess. The 2 catches do not clamp the hard top down as tightly as the soft top which I guess is the problem.

Is anyone else having these problems - is there a quick fix or shall I take it back to the stealer to have a look at?

And please dont flame for for putting the hardtop on

Cheers

You might want to try reseating the hardtop and it's quite flexible and can misalign easily.

I did go back and re-fit as per instructions - by locking the 2 front latches first and then spinning those 2 lever things but it still does it.

The gap between the roof and the rubber is seal (though not huge) I reckon is whats causing it

You beat me it!

I too put my HT on last night. My catches are no where near as tight as those of my soft top (bearing in mind I had the catches replaced 2 weeks ago.)

Is there anyway to tighten the catch adjustments?

Make sure your clips are not loose either, they doo loosen off after time and can be adjusted.

Ah! So I wasn't alone in bunging on the tin lid last night!

Same problem here - lots of wind noise at motorway speed from around the passenger side clip. I suspect the problem is just getting the thing to seat itself properly - a bit of experimentation may help.

(Wind noise aside, I had forgotten how much quieter it is with the top on. And it looks so smart - like a completely different car )
