Default Hardtop fitting kits

Ok so I've gone and bought a second hand hardtop to fit my early S2000. Now I need a fitting kit, but I find that there are a number of variations. I've been looking at Hardtopguy's website, and note that the one I ought to get is for pre VIN 5730 but this states that it is not for right hand drive models.

My question is, are all these differences due to the various wires, switches and trim needed to connect the heated rear screen to the various models, or are there mechanical differences too. I'd be happy enough just to get the side latches only, and forget about wiring in the screen, but if it's possible, I'd wire in the screen too.

PS this is a great forum, I found the detailed fitting instructions on here- a big help for when I get the kit!

Cheers!

Hi Gaspode,

That kit states that it is for VIN above 5730. My car is VIN below 5730. What's the differences?? I'm confused!

I've dropped him a line, might give a call later on too.
I'm guessing it must be to do with the electrical stuff, can't see how the hardware would change.

The side catchers are generic and fit all models. Its the wiring for the rear demister which differs in terms of the plug which connects to the harness.

Hope that helps.

I called Hard Top guy yesterday and ordered just the side catchers. He was very helpful.

It turns out that the early cars are a little different in that the hole for the plug isn't present in the interior trim panel. Hardtop guy is going to put together the correct bits for me and all I'll need to do is drill a hole for the plug and wire everything in. Now that's what I call service! His prices aren't bad too, I'll only be paying slightly more than the going rate on ebay for a random kit that wouldn't have all the wiring/switchgear I need.

Is this what you ordered?

$328 shipped to london, compared to;

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Honda-s2000-hardtop-...=item19b856d955

I'm assuming this will be sufficient to secure the top although the rear demister will not be connected.

Sounds like just the job

..the side catchers. The latches which appear in your link should come with the OEM hardtop unless they have been removed.
