I think this is a bit overreacted, the standard bolts sit about 5mm through the welded nut in the body panels, so adding the 2mm thick fitting brackets isn't going to cause any problems..

It's not like you only use half the nut depth.

I agree if you are still going to fit it you might as well get a good set of bolts but if it's already fitted I wouldn't bother changing them, its not going anywhere.

And yes I'm in engineering too, if that makes any difference

I'm fairly certain the brackets are > 2mm thick where the bolts pass through.

I'm also risk averse...and in this case, why not

The part numbers for the bolts are:
93404-0602008 and 95701-0802008

I have to agree with winfreak on this point.

I'm from engineering too

Fair do's...what I say isn't gospel by any means.

I've not seen if there is enough excess length on the bolts. If there is, then using them will be fine...I'd just like drive in the knowledge that the HT cannot fly off!

I had the oem brackets in my hands today when fitting them to Mardibloke's old S2000 and I think they're 2mm, maybe 3mm thick max.

Anyway there's no need to debate all this, they sell the longer bolts for a reason so if you've got the chance to swap them you might as well I guess, it's not that much work

Good for UK prices:

This site uses Honda Part numbers, not their own made up ones:
