Hard Top Question
Meant to ask this a few weeks ago.
Took delivery of my car with the hardtop fitted, and upon examing it back at the house on its stand, I noticed that I'm missing one of the rubber bushes fitted to each of the two flanges towards the rear of the roof. (I'm not talking about the main pins that lock the roof in position)
Thinking about it, what is the purpose of the these two flanges/bushes. They don't seem to locate anywhere when the roof is fitted; are the simply to protect the roof if it's laid flat on the ground? (Mine is on its stand where these two things aren't in contact with anything)
Anyone cast any light?

I think they are to keep the folded hood down when the HT is on the car - at least that's what they seem to do on mine. They can get oushed out by moved the HT around while trying ot get it on/off the car - I've nearly lost mine before.
The only concern with missing one, is that the fabric of the hood might rub on the metal, but you could always jam something underneath.
Don't know how easy it is to get replacements.

I wondered if that's what they were for. But why metal - why not just some heavy rubber or plastic "feet" that would avoid snagging with the soft top?
Thanks

Yes, these rubber bushes are required to hold the soft top down; to stop it rattling and to prevent it being accidently raised if the roof switch is unintentionally knocked.
They are easily dislodged when fitting/removing the hardtop. You will probaby find that the missing one is lying at the bottom of the well between the soft top and the bodywork.
I had to replace one last November when I put the hardtop back on. Part Number is H74812S3A000 (at least that's what is shown on my dealer's invoice) described as "Cush, side gate". Cost was
