Default Hard Top Newbie

So I have now had my 04GT for 4 days and just picked up the hard top stand so I can get the ing thing off and the roof down!

Being a newbie to the virtues and foybles of a hard top I want to do right by it
Having seen a few threads about warping HT's and bad storage I want some advice please!

I have the Honda stand and cover but I could do with a picture of the correct way to put the HT on the stand! I can see there are four possible ways to do it;

glass down and paint facing away from stand
glass down and paint facing stand
glass up and paint facing away from stand
glass up and paint facing stand

I want to get it right as it is going to spend most its life on the stand
Any other hints and tips for looking after the HT would be appreciated.

Mikey,

Welcome

Glass down and paint away from stand.

Make sure the front of the roof rests against the top of the stand near both corners.

Now go and enjoy some

Check this out:

You can see more pics in the FAQ.

The hard top will not warp if stored correctly. However, I would recommend putting some foam padding in the stoppers to add more cushioning as I found the stoppers to be a little hard. Also, don't add any extra weigh to the hardtop when its in storage (e.g. like resting the tonneau cover on top). The added weight (over time) could cause problems.

Glass resting against the top of the stand, paint facing away from the stand.

Edge of roof in the groove on the two plastic feet.

It takes a good chunk of space too because of the angle. When you do re-fit it it will have warped slightly but will settle back into place.

Bit of advise, grease the rubber with silicon grease to stop the squeeking and whilst on the stand protect the front of the top with some cloth between the stand and lid. That laquer peels easily. Finally as it is aluminium it is piss easy to dent.
