Default Hard Top fitting kit

Just imported the full HT fitting kit from the US. A significant saving from any prices available in the UK but I also bought the brush assemblies at $20 each.

I was therefore disappointed to note that they were identical to the ones already fitted except that someone has slightly trimmed the brushes - hardly worth $20/side (plus shipping and import costs).

Therefore just a word of warning to anyone contemplating the same import process - by all means get the catcher assemblies but please do not bother with the brushes.

I now have 2 original brushes that I need to find a home for so time for a garage clear out and sell some parts....maybe I will trim them myself and sell them as complementary to the HT kit

Its the brushes and the trim they fix to that is different, not just the brush itself.

Is it - I just removed the original trim/brush and replaced with the part out of the kit and the only thing that looked different was the brushes had been cut back a bit?

I will have another look tomorrow but the platic molding did look the same.

Yep, Gary is right. There is a notch that has been cut out that permits the spikes to sit in the brackets...without this, the spike would foul on the trim piece that the brush is attached to.

There have been quite a few threads detailing this...shame you didn't see them before purchasing.

It's true what Gary said, I just ended up cutting and trimming the brush part itself and also used a grinder for the plastic trim piece itself. Easy enough job

The brushes ARE different. If you tried to put the interior trim back together, after fitting the hardtop catchers, with the standard brushes still attatched, it would not fit. They need a fair bit of plastic trimmed off them for them to fit around/over the hardtop catchers and allow the interior panels to fit properly.

hence just removing my brushes. The hood alarm switch mounts in the brush plastic though so it may make your alarm tempramental, going off randomly if you don't re-fit that.

Yeah, I didnt want the switch to be hanging behind the trim panel doing nothing so just took a dremel and modified the brushes so I could keep the switch in position
