Default Hard Top creaking

Hi all

I am one month into S ownership, and loving it.As the clocks have gone back I felt it prudent to fit my hard top for the first time at the weekend ( cue 2 days of sunshine )

I am getting some awful creaking noises which seem to be coming from directly behind my head.

In truth , they already seem to be improving (or am I getting used to it?)

I am assuming that I need to "grease my seals" . I think I have read on here before that Shinetsu is the stuff to have -this I would have to order through the dealer I assume.

.I am impatient to get it sorted -would it be a really stupid idea to use some silicone lubricant spray that I have in the garage ?

Is there anything else that could be causing the creaking??
Thanks in anticipation and sorry for the dull question but the searching facility seems to be down at present and the noise is driving me

Cheers

Yep get some SHin-Etsu - the part number is in the FAQ - dealer won't have heard of it!

The only other thing to suggest is adjusting the strikers, or using some rubber tube (see Bassoctopus thread!)

My HT does the same, it's the plastic trim that runs round the back of the inside of the HT. It seems with mine the colder the weather the more it creaks. I've tried everything to stop it creaking but i've given up now.

I hope over time it will bed in and go away.

I just put my foot down, turn the stereo up, and drown out the sound

Leave the HT off,

The winter has started off very mild, and the sun has been shining.

So leave the tin off the top, and get the roof down

Had this problem last year with mine . However I traced it not to the trim but to the metal brackets with the bungs that are supposed to stop the soft top moving up and down.

Take these off and bobs-your-uncle peace and quiet

Try this guys it worked for me. I'm fitting mine back on at the weekend so will have to see how quiet it is this year
